Borderline Personality Disorder

Borderline Personality Disorder can be characterized by dysregulation due to an inconsistent sense of self. An individual who is so highly dysregulated often exhibits extreme thinking ("black-and-white thinking) a psychological phenomenon called splitting having a difficult time in the more "grey" areas. With this disorder often comes difficulty maintaining close relationships in work, home, and social settings. Borderline Personality Disorder often exists simultaneously with other psychological disorders such as anxiety and depression and has origins in early childhood trauma.

How does CAST Recovery Services treat Borderline Personality Disorder?

When a client arrives at CAST, he or she is assigned a therapist who performs a complete initial evaluation. If a previous diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder has been made, this will be carefully examined. Improper diagnoses and stigmatizing labels are discarded at CAST. The clinical team meets to discuss each individual who arrives at CAST and the entire team is involved in creating a comprehensive treatment plan. Depending on the determination of the clinical team there are a number of structures and programs that CAST has readily accessible to best suit the individual need of each client. Every CAST client is assigned a case manager to monitor and support the treatment plan, integrating each component of the recovery program.
