The State of Pennsylvania was one of the thirteen original colonies, its has also been referred to as the keystone state because of it's central position among the original colonies. Pennsylvania also played a pivotal role in the revolution, being the state that the Declaration of Independence was signed in. Pennsylvania was named after William Penn's father, Admiral Penn. The territory was granted to William by King Charles II to repay a dept to Admiral Penn. Having an international airport as well as being a major commercial shipping center has made the state of Pennsylvania a major crossing of drug shipments. As a result drugs are readily available in Pennsylvania's major cities. Drug abuse and addiction is a plague our society has to deal with. But the United States has come along way in recent decades, treatment and recovery options are available all over the country, outpatient drug rehab facilities, drug and alcohol addiction treatment centers and relapse prevention experts are available everywhere. We cannot win the war on drugs but treatment and recovery are tremendous tools to reduce the damage drugs are inflicting upon our society.
