Co-Occurring Disorders

Co-occurring disorders, also called dual disorders or concomittant disorders, appear when two or more illnesses occur at the same time, with no solid cause-and-effect relationship. And severity can range from mild to severe. Quite often, drug and alcohol use and abuse go hand in hand with these other disorders, and it can be hard to determine which came first. Many psychiatric disorders make a individual vulnerable to self medicating with substances, and at the same time, many substance use disorders induce psychiatric conditions.

At CAST Recovery Treament Center, we are dedicated to providing a comprehensive mental health and psychiatric evaluation identifying any co-occurring disorders, while providing the highest level of care when treating these conditions. Our clients and their families can access the most up-to-date information about mental illness and addiction through psycho-educational groups, one-on-one therapy sessions and online materials.
